³⁰ And when Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation, even the heads of the thousands of Israel that were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spake, it pleased them well.

³³ And the thing pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and spake no more of going up against them to war, to destroy the land wherein the children of Reuben and the children of Gad dwelt.

⁸ And Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father.

³ God hath delivered into your hand the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: and what was I able to do in comparison with you? Then their anger was abated toward him, when he had said that.

⁴ And the thing was right in the eyes of the king and of all the assembly.

²¹ And the saying pleased the king and the princes; and the king did according to the word of Memucan:

¹ A soft answer turneth away wrath; But a grievous word stirreth up anger.

¹⁸ And when they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then to the Gentiles also hath God granted repentance unto life.
