⁴ And this is the cause why Joshua did circumcise: all the people that came forth out of Egypt, that were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came forth out of Egypt.

⁶⁴ But among these there was not a man of them that were numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

⁶⁵ For Jehovah had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

¹⁶ So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,

⁵ Howbeit with most of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

²² because all those men that have seen my glory, and my signs, which I wrought in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

¹⁴ And the days in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah sware unto them.

¹⁷ And with whom was he displeased forty years? was it not with them that sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?

¹⁸ And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that were disobedient?

¹⁹ And we see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.
