²⁴ And Pilate gave sentence that what they asked for should be done.

² Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to turn aside after a multitude to wrest `justice':

¹⁵ He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the righteous, Both of them alike are an abomination to Jehovah.

²⁶ Then released he unto them Barabbas; but Jesus he scourged and delivered to be crucified.

¹⁵ And Pilate, wishing to content the multitude, released unto them Barabbas, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

¹ Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
