³⁰ And they spat upon him, and took the reed and smote him on the head.

⁶⁷ Then did they spit in his face and buffet him: and some smote him with the palms of their hands,

¹⁹ And they smote his head with a reed, and spat upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.

³² For he shall be delivered up unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and shamefully treated, and spit upon:

³³ and they shall scourge and kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

¹ Now shalt thou gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us; they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

⁷ He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.

³ He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not.

¹⁴ Like as many were astonished at thee (his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men),

⁶ I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair; I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

⁷ Thus saith Jehovah, the Redeemer of Israel, `and' his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of Jehovah that is faithful, `even' the Holy One of Israel, who hath chosen thee.

⁸ `They are' children of fools, yea, children of base men; They were scourged out of the land.

⁹ And now I am become their song, Yea, I am a byword unto them.

¹⁰ They abhor me, they stand aloof from me, And spare not to spit in my face.
