³ And the people strove with Moses, and spake, saying, Would that we had died when our brethren died before Jehovah!

² Wherefore the people stove with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why strive ye with me? Wherefore do ye tempt Jehovah?

³¹ And it came to pass, as he made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them;

³² and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.

³³ So they, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into Sheol: and the earth closed upon them, and they perished from among the assembly.

³⁴ And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them; for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up.

³⁵ And fire came forth from Jehovah, and devoured the two hundred and fifty men that offered the incense.

⁴⁹ Now they that died by the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, besides them that died about the matter of Korah.

¹ And the people were as murmurers, `speaking' evil in the ears of Jehovah: and when Jehovah heard it, his anger was kindled; and the fire of Jehovah burnt among them, and devoured in the uttermost part of the camp.

⁹ They that are slain with the sword are better than they that are slain with hunger; For these pine away, stricken through, for want of the fruits of the field.

¹⁰ Because it shut not up the doors of my `mother's' womb, Nor hid trouble from mine eyes.

¹¹ Why died I not from the womb? Why did I not give up the ghost when my mother bare me?

³⁶ And the men, whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up an evil report against the land,

³⁷ even those men that did bring up an evil report of the land, died by the plague before Jehovah.

¹ And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

² And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would that we had died in this wilderness!

³³ While the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the anger of Jehovah was kindled against the people, and Jehovah smote the people with a very great plague.

³⁴ And the name of that place was called Kibrothhattaavah, because there they buried the people that lusted.

² And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness:

³ and the children of Israel said unto them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh-pots, when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
