¹² But look not thou on the day of thy brother in the day of his disaster, and rejoice not over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither speak proudly in the day of distress.

¹¹ And now many nations are assembled against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye see `our desire' upon Zion.

⁵ Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker; `And' he that is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.

¹⁵ As thou didst rejoice over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Edom, even all of it; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.

³ Talk no more so exceeding proudly; Let not arrogancy come out of your mouth; For Jehovah is a God of knowledge, And by him actions are weighed.

¹⁷ I may count all my bones; They look and stare upon me.

¹⁸ Let the lying lips be dumb, Which speak against the righteous insolently, With pride and contempt.

⁵ and there was given to him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and there was given to him authority to continue forty and two months.

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their lusts (and their mouth speaketh great swelling `words'), showing respect of persons for the sake of advantage.

¹⁸ For, uttering great swelling `words' of vanity, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by lasciviousness, those who are just escaping from them that live in error;

⁵ So the tongue also is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how much wood is kindled by how small a fire!

⁴¹ And when he drew nigh, he saw the city and wept over it,

⁴⁰ and saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself: if thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross.

⁴¹ In like manner also the chief priests mocking `him', with the scribes and elders, said,

⁴² He saved others; himself he cannot save. He is the King of Israel; let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe on him.

⁴³ He trusteth on God; let him deliver him now, if he desireth him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

¹³ The Lord will laugh at him; For he seeth that his day is coming.

¹⁰ My God with his lovingkindness will meet me: God will let me see `my desire' upon mine enemies.

¹¹ Mine eye also hath seen `my desire' on mine enemies, Mine ears have heard `my desire' of the evil-doers that rise up against me.

¹⁷ Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, And let not thy heart be glad when he is overthrown;

¹⁸ Lest Jehovah see it, and it displease him, And he turn away his wrath from him.

²⁴ By thy servants hast thou defied the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir-trees thereof; and I will enter into its farthest height, the forest of its fruitful field;

²¹ Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz: The cup shall pass through unto thee also; thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.

⁶ For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast clapped thy hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced with all the despite of thy soul against the land of Israel;

⁷ therefore, behold, I have stretched out my hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a spoil to the nations; and I will cut thee off from the peoples, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries: I will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah.

⁸ Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, Jehovah will be a light unto me.

⁹ I will bear the indignation of Jehovah, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, `and' I shall behold his righteousness.

¹⁰ Then mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her who said unto me, Where is Jehovah thy God? Mine eyes shall see `my desire' upon her; now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

²⁹ If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, Or lifted up myself when evil found him;
