⁹⁵ The wicked have waited for me, to destroy me; `But' I will consider thy testimonies.

²⁰ Now therefore, O king, come down, according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him up into the king's hand.

²¹ And Saul said, Blessed be ye of Jehovah; for ye have had compassion on me.

²² Go, I pray you, make yet more sure, and know and see his place where his haunt is, `and' who hath seen him there; for it is told me that he dealeth very subtly.

²³ See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking-places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me of a certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.

²¹ Do not thou therefore yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, who have bound themselves under a curse, neither to eat nor to drink till they have slain him: and now are they ready, looking for the promise from thee.

¹¹ And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a truth, that the Lord hath sent forth his angel and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

³ Then were gathered together the chief priests, and the elders of the people, unto the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas;

⁴ and they took counsel together that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him.

⁵ But they said, Not during the feast, lest a tumult arise among people.

¹⁶⁷ My soul hath observed thy testimonies; And I love them exceedingly.

¹²⁹ PE. Thy testimonies are wonderful; Therefore doth my soul keep them.

¹²⁵ I am thy servant; give me understanding, That I may know thy testimonies.

¹¹¹ Thy testimonies have I taken as a heritage for ever; For they are the rejoicing of my heart.

⁸⁵ The proud have digged pits for me, Who are not according to thy law.

⁸⁶ All thy commandments are faithful: They persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.

⁸⁷ They had almost consumed me upon earth; But I forsook not thy precepts.

⁶⁹ The proud have forged a lie against me: With my whole heart will I keep thy precepts.

⁶¹ The cords of the wicked have wrapped me round; `But' I have not forgotten thy law.

³¹ I cleave unto thy testimonies: O Jehovah, put me not to shame.

²⁴ Thy testimonies also are my delight `And' my counsellors.

¹² They also that seek after my life lay snares `for me'; And they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, And meditate deceits all the day long.

³² The wicked watcheth the righteous, And seeketh to slay him.

² When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, `Even' mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

⁸ He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; In the secret places doth he murder the innocent; His eyes are privily set against the helpless.

⁹ He lurketh in secret as a lion in his covert; He lieth in wait to catch the poor: He doth catch the poor, when he draweth him in his net.

¹⁰ He croucheth, he boweth down, And the helpless fall by his strong ones.

¹ Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:

² and I will come upon him while he is weary and weak-handed, and will make him afraid; and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only;

³ and I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: `so' all the people shall be in peace.

⁴ And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.

³ asking a favor against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem; laying a plot to kill him on the way.
