⁶ When I remember thee upon my bed, `And' meditate on thee in the night-watches.

⁸ `Yet' Jehovah will command his lovingkindness in the day-time; And in the night his song shall be with me, `Even' a prayer unto the God of my life.

⁴ Thou holdest mine eyes watching: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

⁵ I have considered the days of old, The years of ancient times.

⁶ I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart; And my spirit maketh diligent search.

⁵⁵ I have remembered thy name, O Jehovah, in the night, And have observed thy law.

¹⁴⁷ I anticipated the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy words.

¹⁴⁸ Mine eyes anticipated the night-watches, That I might meditate on thy word.

¹⁷ How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them!

¹⁸ If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: When I awake, I am still with thee.

⁵ Let the saints exult in glory: Let them sing for joy upon their beds.

¹ By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

² `I said', I will rise now, and go about the city; In the streets and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

² I was asleep, but my heart waked: It is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, `saying', Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled; For my head is filled with dew, My locks with the drops of the night.

¹⁹ Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches; Pour out thy heart like water before the face of the Lord: Lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger at the head of every street.
