⁵ A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, Is God in his holy habitation.

¹⁴ Thou hast seen `it'; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: The helpless committeth `himself' unto thee; Thou hast been the helper of the fatherless.

¹⁸ He doth execute justice for the fatherless and widow, and loveth the sojourner, in giving him food and raiment.

¹¹ Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.

¹⁴ From the place of his habitation he looketh forth Upon all the inhabitants of the earth,

⁴ He will judge the poor of the people, He will save the children of the needy, And will break in pieces the oppressor.

³ Judge the poor and fatherless: Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.

⁴ Rescue the poor and needy: Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

⁹ Jehovah preserveth the sojourners; He upholdeth the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

²³ Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves; every one loveth bribes, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

²⁸ They are waxed fat, they shine: yea, they overpass in deeds of wickedness; they plead not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

² saying, There was in a city a judge, who feared not God, and regarded not man:

³ and there was a widow in that city; and she came oft unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

⁴ And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

⁵ yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest she wear me out by her continual coming.

⁶ And the Lord said, Hear what the unrighteous judge saith.

⁷ And shall not God avenge his elect, that cry to him day and night, and `yet' he is longsuffering over them?

² But I have built thee a house of habitation, and a place for thee to dwell in for ever.

¹ Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children;

²⁷ Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy habitation, even unto heaven.

¹² Because I delivered the poor that cried, The fatherless also, that had none to help him.

¹³ The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me; And I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

¹⁶ If I have withheld the poor from `their' desire, Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

¹⁷ Or have eaten my morsel alone, And the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;

² He will judge thy people with righteousness, And thy poor with justice.

¹⁵ For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

¹ Thus saith Jehovah, Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: what manner of house will ye build unto me? and what place shall be my rest?

³ Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses; neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, `Ye are' our gods; for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.

⁴⁸ Howbeit the Most High dwelleth not in `houses' made with hands; as saith the prophet,

⁴⁹ The heaven is my throne, And the earth the footstool of my feet: What manner of house will ye build me? saith the Lord: Or what is the place of my rest?

¹⁵ Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the ground which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.
