⁵ Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: In the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

⁶ The voice of one saying, Cry. And one said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field.

²⁴ For, All flesh is as grass, And all the glory thereof as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth:

²⁰ As a dream when one awaketh, So, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou wilt despise their image.

¹⁶ Who were snatched away before their time, Whose foundation was poured out as a stream,

¹⁰ and the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

¹¹ For the sun ariseth with the scorching wind, and withereth the grass: and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his goings.

⁷ Who is this that riseth up like the Nile, whose waters toss themselves like the rivers?

⁸ Egypt riseth up like the Nile, and his waters toss themselves like the rivers: and he saith, I will rise up, I will cover the earth; I will destroy cities and the inhabitants thereof.

⁷ And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her stronghold, and that distress her, shall be as a dream, a vision of the night.

⁸ And it shall be as when a hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

⁷ now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the River, strong and many, `even' the king of Assyria and all his glory: and it shall come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks;

⁸ and it shall sweep onward into Judah; it shall overflow and pass through; it shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of its wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.

¹⁵ As for man, his days are as grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

¹⁶ For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; And the place thereof shall know it no more.

²⁰ Terrors overtake him like waters; A tempest stealeth him away in the night.

²¹ The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth; And it sweepeth him out of his place.

⁸ He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: Yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.

²⁶ They are passed away as the swift ships; As the eagle that swoopeth on the prey.
