¹ And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name was Boaz.

²¹ and Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

⁵ and Salmon begat Boaz of Rahab; and Boaz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;

¹² And now it is true that I am a near kinsman; howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.

² And now is not Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to-night in the threshing-floor.

¹⁰ And Ram begat Amminadab, and Amminadab begat Nahshon, prince of the children of Judah;

¹¹ and Nahshon begat Salma, and Salma begat Boaz,

¹² and Boaz begat Obed, and Obed begat Jesse;

³² the `son' of Jesse, the `son' of Obed, the `son' of Boaz, the `son' of Salmon, the `son' of Nahshon,

²⁵ If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because my hand had gotten much;

³ His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she-asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the children of the east.

² And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem-judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.

⁸ And after him Ibzan of Beth-lehem judged Israel.

⁹ And he had thirty sons; and thirty daughters he sent abroad, and thirty daughters he brought in from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.

¹⁰ And Ibzan died, and was buried at Beth-lehem.

¹⁷ and `lest' thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand hath gotten me this wealth.

¹⁸ But thou shalt remember Jehovah thy God, for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as at this day.
