^{1 Ref} Now in Iconium they went together to the Synagogue of the Jews and gave such teaching that a great number of Jews and Greeks had faith.

^{2 Ref} But those Jews who had not the faith, made the minds of the Gentiles bitter against the brothers.

^{3 Ref} So they kept there for a long time, taking heart in the Lord, who gave witness to the word of his grace by causing signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

^{4 Ref} But there was a division among the people of the town; some were on the side of the Jews and some on the side of the Apostles.

^{5 Ref} And when a violent attempt was made by the Gentiles and the Jews, with their rulers, to make an attack on them and have them stoned,

^{6 Ref} Having got news of it, they went in flight to the towns of Lycaonia, Lystra, and Derbe, and the country round about:

^{7 Ref} And went on preaching the good news there.

^{8 Ref} And at Lystra there was a certain man, who from birth had been without the use of his feet, never having had the power of walking.

^{9 Ref} This man was giving ear to the preaching of Paul, who, looking at him, and seeing that he had faith to be made well,

^{10 Ref} Said in a loud voice, Get up on your feet. And, jumping up, he went walking about.

^{11 Ref} And when the people saw what Paul had done, they said in a loud voice, in the language of Lycaonia, The gods have come down to us in the form of men.

^{12 Ref} And they gave the name of Jupiter to Barnabas, and to Paul that of Mercury, because he was the chief talker.

^{13 Ref} And the priest of the image of Jupiter, which was before the town, took oxen and flowers to the doors of the town, and was about to make an offering with the people.

^{14 Ref} But when this came to the ears of the Apostles, Paul and Barnabas, they went running out among the people, parting their clothing, and crying out,

^{15 Ref} Good people, why are you doing these things? We are men with the same feelings as you, and we give you the good news so that you may be turned away from these foolish things to the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all things in them:

^{16 Ref} Who in the past let all nations go in the ways which seemed good to them.

^{17 Ref} But he was not without witness, because he did good, and gave you rain from heaven and times of fruit, making your hearts full of food and joy.

^{18 Ref} And even with these words, it was hard for them to keep the people from making an offering to them.

^{19 Ref} But some Jews came to that place from Antioch and Iconium, and got control over the people; and after stoning Paul, they had him pulled out of the town, taking him for dead.

^{20 Ref} But when the disciples came round him, he got up and went into the town: and the day after he went away with Barnabas to Derbe.

^{21 Ref} And having made a number of disciples through the preaching of the good news in that town, they went back to Lystra and Iconium and Antioch,

^{22 Ref} Making strong the souls of the disciples, saying to them that they were to keep the faith, and that we have to go through troubles of all sorts to come into the kingdom of God.

^{23 Ref} And when they had made selection of some to be rulers in every church, and had given themselves to prayer and kept themselves from food, they put them into the care of the Lord in whom they had faith.

^{24 Ref} And they went through Pisidia and came to Pamphylia.

²⁵ And, after preaching the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia;

^{26 Ref} And from there they went by ship to Antioch, where they had been handed over to the grace of God for the work which they had not done.

^{27 Ref} And when they came there, and had got the church together, they gave them an account of all the things which God had done through them, and how he had made open a door of faith to the Gentiles.

^{28 Ref} And they were with the disciples there for a long time.

^{2 Ref} But the Jews that were disobedient stirred up the souls of the Gentiles, and made them evil affected against the brethren.

^{3 Ref} Long time therefore they tarried `there' speaking boldly in the Lord, who bare witness unto the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

^{4 Ref} But the multitude of the city was divided; and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

^{5 Ref} And when there was made an onset both of the Gentiles and of the Jews with their rulers, to treat them shamefully and to stone them,

^{6 Ref} they became aware of it, and fled unto the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the region round about:

^{7 Ref} and there they preached the gospel.

^{8 Ref} And at Lystra there sat a certain man, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked.

^{9 Ref} The same heard Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes upon him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole,

^{10 Ref} said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped up and walked.

^{11 Ref} And when the multitude saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

^{12 Ref} And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercury, because he was the chief speaker.

^{13 Ref} And the priest of Jupiter whose `temple' was before the city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the multitudes.

^{14 Ref} But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they rent their garments, and sprang forth among the multitude, crying out

^{15 Ref} and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good tidings, that ye should turn from these vain things unto a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is:

^{16 Ref} who in the generations gone by suffered all the nations to walk in their own ways.

^{17 Ref} And yet He left not himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you from heaven rains and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness.

^{18 Ref} And with these sayings scarce restrained they the multitudes from doing sacrifice unto them.

^{19 Ref} But there came Jews thither from Antioch and Iconium: and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.

^{20 Ref} But as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and entered into the city: and on the morrow he went forth with Barnabas to Derbe.

^{21 Ref} And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch,

^{22 Ref} confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.

^{23 Ref} And when they had appointed for them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed.

^{24 Ref} And they passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia.

²⁵ And when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia;

^{26 Ref} and thence they sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.

^{27 Ref} And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith unto the Gentiles.

^{28 Ref} And they tarried no little time with the disciples.

^{9 Ref} He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole,

^{15 Ref} "Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the sky and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them;

^{16 Ref} who in the generations gone by allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways.

^{17 Ref} Yet he didn't leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you{TR reads "us" instead of "you"} rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness."

^{18 Ref} Even saying these things, they hardly stopped the multitudes from making a sacrifice to them.

^{19 Ref} But some Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there, and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.

^{20 Ref} But as the disciples stood around him, he rose up, and entered into the city. On the next day he went out with Barnabas to Derbe.

^{21 Ref} When they had preached the Gospel to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,

^{22 Ref} confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into the Kingdom of God.

^{23 Ref} When they had appointed elders for them in every assembly, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed.

^{24 Ref} They passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia.

²⁵ When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

^{26 Ref} From there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.

^{27 Ref} When they had arrived, and had gathered the assembly together, they reported all the things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.

^{28 Ref} They stayed there with the disciples for a long time.
