Mark 9

Bible in Basic English (BBE)

17 Ref And one of the number said to him in answer, Master, I came to you with my son, who has in him a spirit which takes away his power of talking;

18 Ref And wherever it takes him, it puts him down violently, streaming at the lips and twisted with pain; and his strength goes from him; and I made a request to your disciples to send it out, and they were not able.

19 Ref And he said to them in answer, O generation without faith, how long will I have to be with you? how long will I put up with you? let him come to me.

20 Ref And they took him to him: and when he saw him, the spirit in him straight away became violent; and he went down on the earth, rolling about and streaming at the lips.

21 Ref And Jesus questioning the father said, How long has he been like this? And he said, From a child.

22 Ref And frequently it has sent him into the fire and into the water, for his destruction; but if you are able to do anything, have pity on us, and give us help.

23 Ref And Jesus said to him, If you are able! All things are possible to him who has faith.

24 Ref Straight away the father of the child gave a cry, saying, I have faith; make my feeble faith stronger.

25 Ref And when Jesus saw that the people came running together, he gave orders to the unclean spirit, saying to him, You, spirit, who are the cause of his loss of voice and hearing, I say to you, come out of him, and never again go into him.

26 Ref And after crying out and shaking him violently, it came out: and the child became like one dead; so that most of them said, He is dead.

27 Ref But Jesus took him by the hand, lifting him up; and he got up.

28 Ref And when he had gone into the house, his disciples said to him privately, Why were we unable to send it out?

17 Ref And one of the multitude answered him, Teacher, I brought unto thee my son, who hath a dumb spirit;

18 Ref and wheresoever it taketh him, it dasheth him down: and he foameth, and grindeth his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast it out; and they were not able.

19 Ref And he answereth them and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him unto me.

20 Ref And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him grievously; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

21 Ref And he asked his father, How long time is it since this hath come unto him? And he said, From a child.

22 Ref And oft-times it hath cast him both into the fire and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us.

23 Ref And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst! All things are possible to him that believeth.

24 Ref Straightway the father of the child cried out, and said, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

25 Ref And when Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

26 Ref And having cried out, and torn him much, he came out: and `the boy' became as one dead; insomuch that the more part said, He is dead.

27 Ref But Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose.

28 Ref And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, `How is it' that we could not cast it out?

17 Ref One of the multitude answered, "Teacher, I brought to you my son, who has a mute spirit;

18 Ref and wherever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth, and wastes away. I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they weren't able."

19 Ref He answered him, "Unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me."

20 Ref They brought him to him, and when he saw him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground, wallowing and foaming at the mouth.

21 Ref He asked his father, "How long has it been since this has come to him?" He said, "From childhood.

22 Ref Often it has cast him both into the fire and into the water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us, and help us."

27 Ref But Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose.

28 Ref When he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, "Why couldn't we cast it out?"
