¹ And the Lord said to Moses,

^{2 Ref} Say to Aaron, When you put the lights in their places, the seven lights will give light in front of the support.

³ And Aaron did so; he put the lights in their places so that they gave light in front of the support, as the Lord gave orders to Moses.

^{4 Ref} The support for the lights was of hammered gold work, from its base to its flowers it was of hammered work; from the design which the Lord had given to Moses, he made the support for the lights.

⁵ And the Lord said to Moses,

^{6 Ref} Take the Levites out from among the children of Israel and make them clean.

^{7 Ref} And this is how you are to make them clean: let the holy water which takes away sin be put on them, and let the hair all over their bodies be cut off with a sharp blade, and let their clothing be washed and their bodies made clean.

^{8 Ref} Then let them take a young ox and its meal offering, crushed grain mixed with oil, and take another ox for a sin-offering.

^{9 Ref} And make the Levites come forward in front of the Tent of meeting, and let all the children of Israel come together:

^{10 Ref} And you are to take the Levites before the Lord: and the children of Israel are to put their hands on them:

^{11 Ref} And Aaron is to give the Levites to the Lord as a wave offering from the children of Israel, so that they may do the Lord's work.

^{12 Ref} And the Levites are to put their hands on the heads of the oxen, and one of the oxen is to be offered for a sin-offering and the other for a burned offering to the Lord to take away the sin of the Levites.

^{13 Ref} Then the Levites are to be put before Aaron and his sons, to be offered as a wave offering to the Lord.

^{14 Ref} So you are to make the Levites separate from the children of Israel, and the Levites will be mine.

^{15 Ref} After that, the Levites will go in to do whatever has to be done in the Tent of meeting; you are to make them clean and give them as a wave offering.

^{16 Ref} For they have been given to me from among the children of Israel; in place of every mother's first son, the first to come to birth in Israel, I have taken them for myself.

^{17 Ref} For every mother's first son among the children of Israel is mine, the first male birth of man or beast: on the day when I sent death on all the first sons in the land of Egypt, I made them mine.

¹⁸ And in place of the first sons among the children of Israel, I have taken the Levites.

^{19 Ref} And I have given them to Aaron and to his sons, from among the children of Israel, to undertake for them all the work of the Tent of meeting, and to take away sin from the children of Israel so that no evil may come on them when they come near the holy place.

²⁰ All these things Moses and Aaron and the children of Israel did to the Levites; as the Lord gave orders to Moses about the Levites, so the children of Israel did.

^{21 Ref} And the Levites were made clean from sin, and their clothing was washed, and Aaron gave them for a wave offering before the Lord; and Aaron took away their sin and made them clean.

^{22 Ref} And then the Levites went in to do their work in the Tent of meeting before Aaron and his sons: all the orders which the Lord had given Moses about the Levites were put into effect.

²³ And the Lord said to Moses,

^{24 Ref} This is the rule for the Levites: those of twenty-five years old and over are to go in and do the work of the Tent of meeting;

^{25 Ref} But after they are fifty years old, they are to give up their work and do no more;

^{26 Ref} But be with their brothers in the Tent of meeting, taking care of it but doing no work. This is what you are to do in connection with the Levites and their work.

¹ And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

^{2 Ref} Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the candlestick.

³ And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof `so as to give light' in front of the candlestick, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

^{4 Ref} And this was the work of the candlestick, beaten work of gold; unto the base thereof, `and' unto the flowers thereof, it was beaten work: according unto the pattern which Jehovah had showed Moses, so he made the candlestick.

⁵ And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

^{6 Ref} Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.

^{7 Ref} And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of expiation upon them, and let them cause a razor to pass over all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and cleanse themselves.

^{8 Ref} Then let them take a young bullock, and its meal-offering, fine flour mingled with oil; and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin-offering.

^{9 Ref} And thou shalt present the Levites before the tent of meeting: and thou shalt assemble the whole congregation of the children of Israel:

^{10 Ref} and thou shalt present the Levites before Jehovah. And the children of Israel shall lay their hands upon the Levites:

^{11 Ref} and Aaron shall offer the Levites before Jehovah for a wave-offering, on the behalf of the children of Israel, that it may be theirs to do the service of Jehovah.

^{12 Ref} And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and offer thou the one for a sin-offering, and the other for a burnt-offering, unto Jehovah, to make atonement for the Levites.

^{13 Ref} And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for a wave-offering unto Jehovah.

^{14 Ref} Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel; and the Levites shall be mine.

^{15 Ref} And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tent of meeting: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them for a wave-offering.

^{16 Ref} For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of all that openeth the womb, even the first-born of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.

^{17 Ref} For all the first-born among the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote all the first-born in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.

¹⁸ And I have taken the Levites instead of all the first-born among the children of Israel.

^{19 Ref} And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tent of meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel; that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.

²⁰ Thus did Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the Levites: according unto all that Jehovah commanded Moses touching the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.

^{21 Ref} And the Levites purified themselves from sin, and they washed their clothes: and Aaron offered them for a wave-offering before Jehovah; and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them.

^{22 Ref} And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tent of meeting before Aaron, and before his sons: as Jehovah had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.

²³ And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

^{24 Ref} This is that which belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service in the work of the tent of meeting:

^{25 Ref} and from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the work, and shall serve no more,

^{26 Ref} but shall minister with their brethren in the tent of meeting, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charges.

¹ And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

^{2 Ref} `Speak unto Aaron, and thou hast said unto him, In thy causing the lights to go up, over-against the face of the candlestick do the seven lights give light.'

³ And Aaron doth so; over-against the face of the candlestick he hath caused its lights to go up, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

^{4 Ref} And this `is' the work of the candlestick: beaten work of gold; unto its thigh, unto its flower it `is' beaten work; as the appearance which Jehovah shewed Moses, so he hath made the candlestick.

⁵ And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

^{6 Ref} `Take the Levites from the midst of the sons of Israel, and thou hast cleansed them.

^{7 Ref} `And thus thou dost to them to cleanse them: sprinkle upon them waters of atonement, and they have caused a razor to pass over all their flesh, and have washed their garments, and cleansed themselves,

^{8 Ref} and have taken a bullock, a son of the herd, and its present, flour mixed with oil, -- and a second bullock a son of the herd thou dost take for a sin-offering,

^{9 Ref} and thou hast brought near the Levites before the tent of meeting, and thou hast assembled the whole company of the sons of Israel,

^{10 Ref} and thou hast brought near the Levites before Jehovah, and the sons of Israel have laid their hands on the Levites,

^{11 Ref} and Aaron hath waved the Levites -- a wave-offering before Jehovah, from the sons of Israel, and they have been -- for doing the service of Jehovah.

^{12 Ref} `And the Levites lay their hands on the head of the bullocks, and make thou the one a sin-offering, and the one a burnt-offering to Jehovah, to atone for the Levites,

^{13 Ref} and thou hast caused the Levites to stand before Aaron, and before his sons, and hast waved them -- a wave-offering to Jehovah;

^{14 Ref} and thou hast separated the Levites from the midst of the sons of Israel, and the Levites have become Mine;

^{15 Ref} and afterwards do the Levites come in to serve the tent of meeting, and thou hast cleansed them, and hast waved them -- a wave-offering.

^{16 Ref} `For they are certainly given to Me out of the midst of the sons of Israel, instead of him who openeth any womb -- the first-born of all -- from the sons of Israel I have taken them to Myself;

^{17 Ref} for Mine `is' every first-born among the sons of Israel, among man and among beast; in the day of my smiting every first-born in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for Myself;

¹⁸ and I take the Levites instead of every first-born among the sons of Israel:

^{19 Ref} `And I give the Levites gifts to Aaron and to his sons, from the midst of the sons of Israel, to do the service of the sons of Israel in the tent of meeting, and to make atonement for the sons of Israel, and there is no plague among the sons of Israel in the sons of Israel's drawing nigh unto the sanctuary.'

²⁰ And Moses doth -- Aaron also, and all the company of the sons of Israel -- to the Levites according to all that Jehovah hath commanded Moses concerning the Levites; so have the sons of Israel done to them.

^{21 Ref} And the Levites cleanse themselves, and wash their garments, and Aaron waveth them a wave-offering before Jehovah, and Aaron maketh atonement for them to cleanse them,

^{22 Ref} and afterwards have the Levites gone in to do their service in the tent of meeting, before Aaron and before his sons; as Jehovah hath commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they have done to them.

²³ And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

^{24 Ref} `This `is' that which `is' the Levites': from a son of five and twenty years and upward he doth go in to serve the host in the service of the tent of meeting,

^{25 Ref} and from a son of fifty years he doth return from the host of the service, and doth not serve any more,

^{26 Ref} and he hath ministered with his brethren in the tent of meeting, to keep the charge, and doth not do service; thus thou dost to the Levites concerning their charge.'
