2 Timothy 3

Bible in Basic English (BBE)

1 Ref But be certain of this, that in the last days times of trouble will come.

2 Ref For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, uplifted in pride, given to bitter words, going against the authority of their fathers, never giving praise, having no religion,

3 Ref Without natural love, bitter haters, saying evil of others, violent and uncontrolled, hating all good,

4 Ref False to their friends, acting without thought, lifted up in mind, loving pleasure more than God;

5 Ref Having a form of religion, but turning their backs on the power of it: go not with these.

6 Ref For these are they who go secretly into houses, making prisoners of foolish women, weighted down with sin, turned from the way by their evil desires,

7 Ref Ever learning, and never coming to the knowledge of what is true.

8 Ref And as James and Jambres went against Moses, so do these go against what is true: men of evil minds, who, tested by faith, are seen to be false.

9 Ref But they will go no farther: for their foolish behaviour will be clear to all men, as theirs was in the end.

10 Ref But you took as your example my teaching, behaviour, purpose, and faith; my long waiting, my love, my quiet undergoing of trouble;

11 Ref My punishments and pain; the things which came to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; the cruel attacks made on me: and the Lord made me free from them all.

12 Ref Yes, and all whose purpose is to be living in the knowledge of God in Christ Jesus, will be cruelly attacked.

13 Ref Evil and false men will become worse and worse, using deceit and themselves overcome by deceit.

14 Ref But see that you keep to the teaching you have been given and the things of which you are certain, conscious of who has been your teacher;

15 Ref And that from the time when you were a child, you have had knowledge of the holy Writings, which are able to make you wise to salvation, through faith in Christ Jesus.

16 Ref Every holy Writing which comes from God is of profit for teaching, for training, for guiding, for education in righteousness:

17 Ref So that the man of God may be complete, trained and made ready for every good work.

1 Ref But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come.

2 Ref For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Ref without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good,

4 Ref traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;

5 Ref holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power thereof. Turn away from these, also.

6 Ref For of these are those who creep into houses, and take captive gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts,

7 Ref always learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Ref Even as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these also oppose the truth; men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith.

9 Ref But they will proceed no further. For their folly will be evident to all men, as theirs also came to be.

10 Ref But you did follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, steadfastness,

11 Ref persecutions, and sufferings: those things that happened to me at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. I endured those persecutions. Out of them all the Lord delivered me.

12 Ref Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

13 Ref But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

14 Ref But you remain in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.

15 Ref From infancy, you have known the sacred writings which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus.

16 Ref Every writing inspired by God{literally, God-breathed} is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction which is in righteousness,

17 Ref that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
