^{1 Ref} Awake! awake! put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful robes, O Jerusalem, the holy town: for from now there will never again come into you the unclean and those without circumcision.

^{2 Ref} Make yourself clean from the dust; up! and take the seat of your power, O Jerusalem: the bands of your neck are loose, O prisoned daughter of Zion.

^{3 Ref} For the Lord says, You were given for nothing, and you will be made free without price.

^{4 Ref} For the Lord God says, My people went down at first into Egypt, to get a place for themselves there: and the Assyrian put a cruel yoke on them without cause.

^{5 Ref} Now then, what have I here? says the Lord, for my people are taken away without cause; they are made waste and give cries of sorrow, says the Lord, and all the day the nations put shame on my name.

^{6 Ref} For this cause I will make my name clear to my people; in that day they will be certain that it is my word which comes to them; see, here am I.

^{7 Ref} How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who comes with good news, who gives word of peace, saying that salvation is near; who says to Zion, Your God is ruling!

^{8 Ref} The voice of your watchmen! their voices are loud in song together; for they will see him, eye to eye, when the Lord comes back to Zion.

^{9 Ref} Give sounds of joy, make melody together, waste places of Jerusalem: for the Lord has given comfort to his people, he has taken up the cause of Jerusalem.

^{10 Ref} The Lord has let his holy arm be seen by the eyes of all nations; and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.

^{11 Ref} Away! away! go out from there, touching no unclean thing; go out from among her; be clean, you who take up the vessels of the Lord.

^{12 Ref} For you will not go out suddenly, and you will not go in flight: for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will come after you to keep you.

^{13 Ref} See, my servant will do well in his undertakings, he will be honoured, and lifted up, and be very high.

^{14 Ref} As peoples were surprised at him, And his face was not beautiful, so as to be desired: his face was so changed by disease as to be unlike that of a man, and his form was no longer that of the sons of men.

^{15 Ref} So will nations give him honour; kings will keep quiet because of him: for what had not been made clear to them they will see; and they will give their minds to what had not come to their ears.

^{2 Ref} Shake thyself from dust, arise, sit, O Jerusalem, Bands of thy neck have loosed themselves, O captive, daughter of Zion.

^{3 Ref} For thus said Jehovah: `For nought ye have been sold, And not by money are ye redeemed.'

^{4 Ref} For thus said the Lord Jehovah: `To Egypt My people went down at first to sojourn there, And Asshur -- for nought he hath oppressed it.

^{5 Ref} And now, what -- to Me here, An affirmation of Jehovah, That taken is My people for nought? Its rulers cause howling, -- an affirmation of Jehovah, And continually all the day My name is despised.

^{6 Ref} Therefore doth My people know My name, Therefore, in that day, Surely I `am' He who is speaking, behold Me.'

^{7 Ref} How comely on the mountains, Have been the feet of one proclaiming tidings, Sounding peace, proclaiming good tidings, Sounding salvation, Saying to Zion, `Reigned hath thy God.'

^{8 Ref} The voice of thy watchmen! They have lifted up the voice, together they cry aloud, Because eye to eye they see, in Jehovah's turning back `to' Zion.

^{9 Ref} Break forth, sing together, O wastes of Jerusalem, For Jehovah hath comforted His people, He hath redeemed Jerusalem.

^{10 Ref} Jehovah hath made bare His holy arm Before the eyes of all the nations, And seen have all the ends of the earth, The salvation of our God.

^{11 Ref} Turn aside, turn aside, go out thence, The unclean touch not, go out from her midst, Be ye pure, who are bearing the weapons of Jehovah.

^{12 Ref} For not in haste do ye go out, Yea, with flight ye go not on, For going before you `is' Jehovah, And gathering you `is' the God of Israel!

^{13 Ref} Lo, My servant doth act wisely, He is high, and hath been lifted up, And hath been very high.

^{14 Ref} As astonished at thee have been many, (So marred by man his appearance, And his form by sons of men.)

^{15 Ref} So doth he sprinkle many nations. Concerning him kings shut their mouth, For that which was not recounted to them they have seen, And that which they had not heard they have understood!

^{5 Ref} Now therefore, what do I here, says Yahweh, seeing that my people is taken away for nothing? those who rule over them do howl, says Yahweh, and my name continually all the day is blasphemed.

^{6 Ref} Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore [they shall know] in that day that I am he who does speak; behold, it is I.

^{7 Ref} How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of good, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, Your God reigns!

^{8 Ref} The voice of your watchmen! they lift up the voice, together do they sing; for they shall see eye to eye, when Yahweh returns to Zion.

^{9 Ref} Break forth into joy, sing together, you waste places of Jerusalem; for Yahweh has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.

^{10 Ref} Yahweh has made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

^{11 Ref} Depart you, depart you, go you out from there, touch no unclean thing; go you out of the midst of her; cleanse yourselves, you who bear the vessels of Yahweh.

^{12 Ref} For you shall not go out in haste, neither shall you go by flight: for Yahweh will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rearward.

^{13 Ref} Behold, my servant shall deal wisely, he shall be exalted and lifted up, and shall be very high.

^{14 Ref} Like as many were astonished at you (his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men),

^{15 Ref} so shall he sprinkle many nations; kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they understand.
