Psalms 62

Bible in Basic English (BBE)

1 Ref <To the chief music-maker. After Jeduthun. A Psalm. Of David.> My soul, put all your faith in God; for from him comes my salvation.

2 Ref He only is my Rock and my salvation; he is my high tower; I will not be greatly moved.

3 Ref How long will you go on designing evil against a man? running against him as against a broken wall, which is on the point of falling?

4 Ref Their only thought is to put him down from his place of honour; their delight is in deceit: blessing is in their mouths but cursing in their hearts. (Selah.)

5 Ref My soul, put all your faith in God; for from him comes my hope.

6 Ref He only is my Rock and my salvation; he is my high tower; I will not be greatly moved.

7 Ref In God is my salvation, and my glory; the Rock of my strength, and my safe place.

8 Ref Have faith in him at all times, you people; let your hearts go flowing out before him: God is our safe place. (Selah.)

9 Ref Truly men of low birth are nothing, and men of high position are not what they seem; if they are put in the scales together they are less than a breath.

10 Ref Have no faith in the rewards of evil-doing, or in profits wrongly made: if your wealth is increased, do not put your hopes on it.

11 Ref Once has God said, twice has it come to my ears, that power is God's:

12 Ref And mercy, O Lord, is yours, for you give to every man the reward of his work.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Ref To the Overseer, for Jeduthun. -- A Psalm of David. Only -- toward God `is' my soul silent, From Him `is' my salvation.

2 Ref Only -- He `is' my rock, and my salvation, My tower, I am not much moved.

3 Ref Till when do ye devise mischief against a man? Ye are destroyed all of you, As a wall inclined, a hedge that is cast down.

4 Ref Only -- from his excellency They have consulted to drive away, They enjoy a lie, with their mouth they bless, And with their heart revile. Selah.

5 Ref Only -- for God, be silent, O my soul, For from Him `is' my hope.

6 Ref Only -- He `is' my rock and my salvation, My tower, I am not moved.

7 Ref On God `is' my salvation, and my honour, The rock of my strength, my refuge `is' in God.

8 Ref Trust in Him at all times, O people, Pour forth before Him your heart, God `is' a refuge for us. Selah.

9 Ref Only -- vanity `are' the low, a lie the high. In balances to go up they than vanity `are' lighter.

10 Ref Trust not in oppression, And in robbery become not vain, Wealth -- when it increaseth -- set not the heart.

11 Ref Once hath God spoken, twice I heard this, That `strength `is' with God.'

12 Ref And with Thee, O Lord, `is' kindness, For Thou dost recompense to each, According to his work!

World English Bible (WEB)

2 Ref He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress-- I will never be greatly shaken.

3 Ref How long will you assault a man, Would all of you throw him down, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?

4 Ref They fully intend to throw him down from his lofty place. They delight in lies. They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.

5 Ref My soul, wait in silence for God alone, For my expectation is from him.

6 Ref He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be shaken.

7 Ref With God is my salvation and my honor. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

8 Ref Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Selah.

9 Ref Surely men of low degree are just a breath, And men of high degree are a lie. In the balances they will go up. They are together lighter than a breath.

10 Ref Don't trust in oppression. Don't become vain in robbery. If riches increase, Don't set your heart on them.

11 Ref God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this, That power belongs to God.

12 Ref Also to you, Lord, belongs loving kindness, For you reward every man according to his work.
