^{1 Ref} And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

^{2 Ref} And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

^{3 Ref} And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

^{4 Ref} And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

^{5 Ref} For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

^{6 Ref} And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

^{7 Ref} For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

^{8 Ref} All these are the beginning of sorrows.

^{9 Ref} Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

^{10 Ref} And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

^{11 Ref} And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

^{12 Ref} And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

^{13 Ref} But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

^{14 Ref} And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

^{15 Ref} When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

^{16 Ref} Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

^{17 Ref} Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

¹⁸ Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

^{19 Ref} And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

^{20 Ref} But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

^{21 Ref} For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

^{22 Ref} And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

^{23 Ref} Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

^{24 Ref} For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

^{25 Ref} Behold, I have told you before.

^{26 Ref} Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

^{27 Ref} For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

^{28 Ref} For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

^{29 Ref} Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

^{30 Ref} And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

^{31 Ref} And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

^{32 Ref} Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

^{33 Ref} So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

^{34 Ref} Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

^{35 Ref} Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

^{36 Ref} But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

^{37 Ref} But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

^{38 Ref} For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

^{39 Ref} And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

^{40 Ref} Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

^{41 Ref} Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

^{42 Ref} Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

^{43 Ref} But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

^{44 Ref} Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

^{45 Ref} Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

^{46 Ref} Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

^{47 Ref} Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

^{48 Ref} But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

^{49 Ref} And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

^{50 Ref} The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

^{51 Ref} And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

^{2 Ref} But he answered them, "Don't you see all of these things? Most assuredly I tell you, there will not be left here one stone on another, that will not be thrown down."

^{3 Ref} As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? What is the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age?"

^{4 Ref} Jesus answered them, "Be careful that no one leads you astray.

^{5 Ref} For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will lead many astray.

^{6 Ref} You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren't troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet.

^{7 Ref} For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places.

^{8 Ref} But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.

^{9 Ref} Then they will deliver you up to oppression, and will kill you. You will be hated by all of the nations for my name's sake.

^{10 Ref} Then many will stumble, and will deliver up one another, and will hate one another.

^{11 Ref} Many false prophets will arise, and will lead many astray.

^{12 Ref} Because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold.

^{13 Ref} But he who endures to the end, the same will be saved.

^{14 Ref} This Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

^{15 Ref} "When, therefore, you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),

^{16 Ref} then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

^{17 Ref} Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take out things that are in his house.

¹⁸ Let him who is in the field not return back to get his clothes.

^{19 Ref} But woe to those who are with child and to nursing mothers in those days!

^{20 Ref} Pray that your flight will not be in the winter, nor on a Sabbath,

^{21 Ref} for then there will be great oppression, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever will be.

^{22 Ref} Unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved. But for the sake of the chosen ones, those days will be shortened.

^{23 Ref} "Then if any man tells you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or, 'There,' don't believe it.

^{24 Ref} For there will arise false christs, and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.

^{25 Ref} "Behold, I have told you beforehand.

^{26 Ref} If therefore they tell you, 'Behold, he is in the wilderness,' don't go out; 'Behold, he is in the inner chambers,' don't believe it.

^{27 Ref} For as the lightning comes forth from the east, and is seen even to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

^{28 Ref} For wherever the carcass is, there will the vultures{or, eagles} be gathered together.

^{29 Ref} But immediately after the oppression of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken;

^{30 Ref} and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. Then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.

^{31 Ref} He will send out his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

^{32 Ref} "Now from the fig tree learn this parable. When its branch has now become tender, and puts forth its leaves, you know that the summer is near.

^{33 Ref} Even so you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

^{34 Ref} Most assuredly I tell you, this generation{The word for "generation" (genea) can also be translated as "race."} will not pass away, until all these things are accomplished.

^{35 Ref} Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

^{36 Ref} But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

^{37 Ref} "As the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

^{38 Ref} For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,

^{39 Ref} and they didn't know until the flood came, and took them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

^{40 Ref} Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and one will be left;

^{41 Ref} two women grinding at the mill, one will be taken and one will be left.

^{42 Ref} Watch therefore, for you don't know in what hour your Lord comes.

^{43 Ref} But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.

^{44 Ref} Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don't expect, the Son of Man will come.

^{45 Ref} "Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season?

^{46 Ref} Blessed is that servant whom his lord finds doing so when he comes.

^{47 Ref} Most assuredly I tell you that he will set him over all that he has.

^{48 Ref} But if that evil servant should say in his heart, 'My lord is delaying his coming,'

^{49 Ref} and begins to beat his fellow-servants, and eat and drink with the drunken,

^{50 Ref} the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doesn't expect it, and in an hour when he doesn't know it,

^{51 Ref} and will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.

^{1 Ref} And Jesus went out of the Temple, and on the way his disciples came to him, pointing out the buildings of the Temple.

^{2 Ref} But he, answering, said to them, See you not all these things? truly I say to you that here there will not be one stone resting on another, which will not be pulled down.

^{3 Ref} And while he was seated on the Mountain of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, Make clear to us, when will these things be? and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world?

^{4 Ref} And Jesus said to them in answer, Take care that you are not tricked.

^{5 Ref} For people will come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and a number will be turned from the true way through them.

^{6 Ref} And news will come to you of wars and talk of wars: do not be troubled, for these things have to be; but it is still not the end.

^{7 Ref} For nation will be moved against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and men will be without food, and the earth will be shaking in different places;

^{8 Ref} But all these things are the first of the troubles.

^{9 Ref} Then they will be cruel to you, and will put you to death: and you will be hated by all nations because of my name.

^{10 Ref} And numbers of people will be turned from the right way, and will give one another up and have hate for one another.

^{11 Ref} And a number of false prophets will come, causing error.

^{12 Ref} And because wrongdoing will be increased, the love of most people will become cold.

^{13 Ref} But he who goes through to the end will get salvation.

^{14 Ref} And this good news of the kingdom will be given through all the world for a witness to all nations; and then the end will come.

^{15 Ref} When, then, you see in the holy place the unclean thing which makes destruction, of which word was given by Daniel the prophet (let this be clear to the reader),

^{16 Ref} Then let those who are in Judaea go in flight to the mountains:

^{17 Ref} Let not him who is on the house-top go down to take anything out of his house:

¹⁸ And let not him who is in the field go back to get his coat.

^{19 Ref} But it will be hard for women who are with child and for those with babies at the breast in those days.

^{20 Ref} And say a prayer that your flight may not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath.

^{21 Ref} Because in those days there will be great sorrow, such as there has not been from the start of the world till now, or ever will be.

^{22 Ref} And if those days had not been made short there would have been no salvation for any, but because of the saints those days will be made short.

^{23 Ref} Then if any man says to you, See, here is the Christ, or, Here; do not put faith in him;

^{24 Ref} For there will come up false Christs, and false prophets, who will do great signs and wonders; so that if possible even the saints might be tricked.

^{25 Ref} See, I have made it clear to you before it comes about.

^{26 Ref} If, then, they say to you, See, he is in the waste land; go not out: See, he is in the inner rooms; put no faith in it.

^{27 Ref} Because as in a thunderstorm the bright light coming from the east is seen even in the west; so will be the coming of the Son of man.

^{28 Ref} Wherever the dead body is, there will the eagles come together.

^{29 Ref} But straight away, after the trouble of those days, the sun will be made dark and the moon will not give her light and the stars will come down from heaven and the powers of heaven will be moved:

^{30 Ref} And then the sign of the Son of man will be seen in heaven: and then all the nations of the earth will have sorrow, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

^{31 Ref} And he will send out his angels with a great sound of a horn, and they will get his saints together from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

^{32 Ref} Now take an example from the fig-tree: when her branch has become soft and puts out its leaves, you are certain that the summer is near;

^{33 Ref} Even so, when you see all these things, you may be certain that he is near, even at the doors.

^{34 Ref} Truly I say to you, This generation will not come to an end till all these things are complete.

^{35 Ref} Heaven and earth will come to an end, but my words will not come to an end.

^{36 Ref} But of that day and hour no one has knowledge, not even the angels in heaven, or the Son, but the Father only.

^{37 Ref} And as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of man.

^{38 Ref} Because as in those days before the overflowing of the waters, they were feasting and taking wives and getting married, till the day when Noah went into the ark,

^{39 Ref} And they had no care till the waters came and took them all away; so will be the coming of the Son of man.

^{40 Ref} Then two men will be in the field; one is taken, and one let go;

^{41 Ref} Two women will be crushing grain; one is taken, and one let go.

^{42 Ref} Be watching, then! for you have no knowledge on what day your Lord will come.

^{43 Ref} But be certain of this, that if the master of the house had had knowledge of the time when the thief was coming, he would have been watching, and would not have let his house be broken into.

^{44 Ref} Be ready then; for at a time which you have no thought of the Son of man will come.

^{45 Ref} Who is the true and wise servant, whom his lord has put over those in his house, to give them their food at the right time?

^{46 Ref} A blessing on that servant, who will be doing so when his lord comes.

^{47 Ref} Truly, I say to you, he will put him over all he has.

^{48 Ref} But if that evil servant says in his heart, My lord is a long time in coming;

^{49 Ref} And is cruel to the other servants, taking his pleasure with those who are overcome with wine;

^{50 Ref} The lord of that servant will come in a day when he is not looking for him, and in an hour of which he has no knowledge,

^{51 Ref} And will have him cut in two, and will give him a part in the fate of the false ones: there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.
