Philemon 1
King James Version (KJV)
1 Ref Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,
2 Ref And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house:
3 Ref Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Ref I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,
5 Ref Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
6 Ref That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
7 Ref For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
8 Ref Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,
9 Ref Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
10 Ref I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:
11 Ref Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:
12 Ref Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:
13 Ref Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:
14 Ref But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.
15 Ref For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;
16 Ref Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?
17 Ref If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.
18 Ref If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;
19 Ref I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.
20 Ref Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.
21 Ref Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.
22 Ref But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.
23 Ref There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus;
24 Ref Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.
25 Ref The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
1 Ref Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timotheus the brother, to Philemon our beloved and fellow-worker,
2 Ref and Apphia the beloved, and Archippus our fellow-soldier, and the assembly in thy house:
3 Ref Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ!
4 Ref I give thanks to my God, always making mention of thee in my prayers,
5 Ref hearing of thy love and faith that thou hast unto the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints,
6 Ref that the fellowship of thy faith may become working in the full knowledge of every good thing that `is' in you toward Christ Jesus;
7 Ref for we have much joy and comfort in thy love, because the bowels of the saints have been refreshed through thee, brother.
8 Ref Wherefore, having in Christ much boldness to command thee that which is fit --
9 Ref because of the love I rather entreat, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ;
10 Ref I entreat thee concerning my child -- whom I did beget in my bonds -- Onesimus,
11 Ref who once was to thee unprofitable, and now is profitable to me and to thee,
12 Ref whom I did send again, and thou him (that is, my own bowels) receive,
13 Ref whom I did wish to retain to myself, that in thy behalf he might minister to me in the bonds of the good news,
14 Ref and apart from thy mind I willed to do nothing, that as of necessity thy good deed may not be, but of willingness,
15 Ref for perhaps because of this he did depart for an hour, that age-duringly thou mayest have him,
16 Ref no more as a servant, but above a servant -- a brother beloved, especially to me, and how much more to thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord!
17 Ref If, then, with me thou hast fellowship, receive him as me,
18 Ref and if he did hurt to thee, or doth owe anything, this to me be reckoning;
19 Ref I, Paul did write with my hand, I -- I will repay; that I may not say that also thyself, besides, to me thou dost owe.
20 Ref Yes, brother, may I have profit of thee in the Lord; refresh my bowels in the Lord;
21 Ref having been confident in thy obedience I did write to thee, having known that also above what I may say thou wilt do;
22 Ref and at the same time also prepare for me a lodging, for I hope that through your prayers I shall be granted to you.
23 Ref Salute thee doth Epaphras, (my fellow-captive in Christ Jesus,)
24 Ref Markus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lukas, my fellow-workmen!
25 Ref The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ `is' with your spirit! Amen.
