Psalms 1
Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
1 Ref O the happiness of that one, who Hath not walked in the counsel of the wicked. And in the way of sinners hath not stood, And in the seat of scorners hath not sat;
2 Ref But -- in the law of Jehovah `is' his delight, And in His law he doth meditate by day and by night:
3 Ref And he hath been as a tree, Planted by rivulets of water, That giveth its fruit in its season, And its leaf doth not wither, And all that he doth he causeth to prosper.
4 Ref Not so the wicked: But -- as chaff that wind driveth away!
5 Ref Therefore the wicked rise not in judgment, Nor sinners in the company of the righteous,
6 Ref For Jehovah is knowing the way of the righteous, And the way of the wicked is lost!
World English Bible (WEB)
1 Ref Blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers;
2 Ref But his delight is in Yahweh's law; On his law he meditates day and night.
3 Ref He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper.
4 Ref The wicked are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Ref Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 Ref For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked shall perish.
Bible in Basic English (BBE)
1 Ref Happy is the man who does not go in the company of sinners, or take his place in the way of evil-doers, or in the seat of those who do not give honour to the Lord.
2 Ref But whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and whose mind is on his law day and night.
3 Ref He will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, which gives its fruit at the right time, whose leaves will ever be green; and he will do well in all his undertakings.
4 Ref The evil-doers are not so; but are like the dust from the grain, which the wind takes away.
5 Ref For this cause there will be no mercy for sinners when they are judged, and the evil-doers will have no place among the upright,
6 Ref Because the Lord sees the way of the upright, but the end of the sinner is destruction.
