^{1 Ref} A Prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, a habitation Thou -- Thou hast been, To us -- in generation and generation,

^{2 Ref} Before mountains were brought forth, And Thou dost form the earth and the world, Even from age unto age Thou `art' God.

^{3 Ref} Thou turnest man unto a bruised thing, And sayest, Turn back, ye sons of men.

^{4 Ref} For a thousand years in Thine eyes `are' as yesterday, For it passeth on, yea, a watch by night.

^{5 Ref} Thou hast inundated them, they are asleep, In the morning as grass he changeth.

^{6 Ref} In the morning it flourisheth, and hath changed, At evening it is cut down, and hath withered.

^{7 Ref} For we were consumed in Thine anger, And in Thy fury we have been troubled.

^{8 Ref} Thou hast set our iniquities before Thee, Our hidden things at the light of Thy face,

^{9 Ref} For all our days pined away in Thy wrath, We consumed our years as a meditation.

^{10 Ref} Days of our years, in them `are' seventy years, And if, by reason of might, eighty years, Yet `is' their enlargement labour and vanity, For it hath been cut off hastily, and we fly away.

^{11 Ref} Who knoweth the power of Thine anger? And according to Thy fear -- Thy wrath?

^{12 Ref} To number our days aright let `us' know, And we bring the heart to wisdom.

^{13 Ref} Turn back, O Jehovah, till when? And repent concerning Thy servants.

^{14 Ref} Satisfy us at morn `with' Thy kindness, And we sing and rejoice all our days.

^{15 Ref} Cause us to rejoice according to the days Wherein Thou hast afflicted us, The years we have seen evil.

^{16 Ref} Let Thy work appear unto Thy servants, And Thine honour on their sons.

^{17 Ref} And let the pleasantness of Jehovah our God be upon us, And the work of our hands establish on us, Yea, the work of our hands establish it!

^{2 Ref} Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever you had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.

^{3 Ref} You turn man to destruction, saying, "Return, you children of men."

^{4 Ref} For a thousand years in your sight Are but as yesterday when it is past, As a watch in the night.

^{5 Ref} You sweep them away as they sleep. In the morning they sprout like new grass.

^{6 Ref} In the morning it sprouts and springs up. By evening, it is withered and dry.

^{7 Ref} For we are consumed in your anger. We are troubled in your wrath.

^{8 Ref} You have set our iniquities before you, Our secret sins in the light of your presence.

^{9 Ref} For all our days have passed away in your wrath. We bring our years to an end as a sigh.

^{10 Ref} The days of our years are seventy, Or even by reason of strength eighty years; Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, For it passes quickly, and we fly away.

^{11 Ref} Who knows the power of your anger, Your wrath according to the fear that is due to you?

^{12 Ref} So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.

^{13 Ref} Relent, Yahweh! How long? Have compassion on your servants!

^{14 Ref} Satisfy us in the morning with your loving kindness, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

^{15 Ref} Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, For as many years as we have seen evil.

^{16 Ref} Let your work appear to your servants; Your glory to their children.

^{17 Ref} Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; Establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands.

^{2 Ref} Before the mountains were made, before you had given birth to the earth and the world, before time was, and for ever, you are God.

^{3 Ref} You send man back to his dust; and say, Go back, you children of men.

^{4 Ref} For to you a thousand years are no more than yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night.

^{5 Ref} ...

^{6 Ref} In the morning it is green; in the evening it is cut down, and becomes dry.

^{7 Ref} We are burned up by the heat of your passion, and troubled by your wrath.

^{8 Ref} You have put our evil doings before you, our secret sins in the light of your face.

^{9 Ref} For all our days have gone by in your wrath; our years come to an end like a breath.

^{10 Ref} The measure of our life is seventy years; and if through strength it may be eighty years, its pride is only trouble and sorrow, for it comes to an end and we are quickly gone.

^{11 Ref} Who has knowledge of the power of your wrath, or who takes note of the weight of your passion?

^{12 Ref} So give us knowledge of the number of our days, that we may get a heart of wisdom.

^{13 Ref} Come back, O Lord; how long? let your purpose for your servants be changed.

^{14 Ref} In the morning give us your mercy in full measure; so that we may have joy and delight all our days.

^{15 Ref} Make us glad in reward for the days of our sorrow, and for the years in which we have seen evil.

^{16 Ref} Make your work clear to your servants, and your glory to their children.

^{17 Ref} Let the pleasure of the Lord our God be on us: O Lord, give strength to the work of our hands.
