⁴ And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

⁹ He giveth to the beast his food, `And' to the young ravens which cry.

⁵ And he lay down and slept under a juniper-tree; and, behold, an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.

⁶ And he looked, and, behold, there was at his head a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.

⁷ And the angel of Jehovah came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for thee.

⁸ And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

⁹ Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Sidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain thee.

¹¹ Then the devil leaveth him; and behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

⁸ Let all the earth fear Jehovah: Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

⁹ For he spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

⁴¹ Who provideth for the raven his prey, When his young ones cry unto God, `And' wander for lack of food?

⁸ Or `who' shut up the sea with doors, When it brake forth, `as if' it had issued out of the womb;

⁹ When I made clouds the garment thereof, And thick darkness a swaddling-band for it,

¹⁰ And marked out for it my bound, And set bars and doors,

¹¹ And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further; And here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

¹² Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days `began', `And' caused the dayspring to know its place;

¹³ That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it?

²⁹ When he giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? Alike whether `it be done' unto a nation, or unto a man:

⁸ Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, that it give forth its water; and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock; so thou shalt give the congregation and their cattle drink.

³ And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and it shall bite them.

⁴ And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.
