¹⁹ And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before Jehovah, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and Jehovah remembered her.

²² And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.

¹¹ And she vowed a vow, and said, O Jehovah of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man-child, then I will give him unto Jehovah all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

¹ And Jehovah visited Sarah as he had said, and Jehovah did unto Sarah as he had spoken.

¹ And the man knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man with `the help of' Jehovah.

⁴² And he said, Jesus, remember me when thou comest in thy kingdom.

³⁵ And in the morning, a great while before day, he rose up and went out, and departed into a desert place, and there prayed.

²³ Who remembered us in our low estate; For his lovingkindness `endureth' for ever;

¹⁴⁷ I anticipated the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy words.

¹⁷ Evening, and morning, and at noonday, will I complain, and moan; And he will hear my voice.

⁷ Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: According to thy lovingkindness remember thou me, For thy goodness' sake, O Jehovah.

³ O Jehovah, in the morning shalt thou hear my voice; In the morning will I order `my prayer' unto thee, and will keep watch.

²⁶ And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that Samuel called to Saul on the housetop, saying, Up, that I may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad.

¹¹ And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child did minister unto Jehovah before Eli the priest.

¹ Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite:
