²³ And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only Jehovah establish his word. So the woman tarried and gave her son suck, until she weaned him.

²⁵ And now, O Jehovah God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, confirm thou it for ever, and do as thou hast spoken.

⁷ And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should give children suck? For I have borne him a son in his old age.

⁸ And the child grew, and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.

⁷ and her husband hear it, and hold his peace at her in the day that he heareth it; then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.

⁸ But if her husband disallow her in the day that he heareth it, then he shall make void her vow which is upon her, and the rash utterance of her lips, wherewith she hath bound her soul: and Jehovah will forgive her.

⁹ But the vow of a widow, or of her that is divorced, `even' everything wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand against her.

¹⁰ And if she vowed in her husband's house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath,

¹¹ and her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not; then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.

¹⁷ Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace; and the God of Israel grant thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

⁹ But thou art he that took me out of the womb; Thou didst make me trust `when I was' upon my mother's breasts.

²⁶ that confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith of Jerusalem, She shall be inhabited; and of the cities of Judah, They shall be built, and I will raise up the waste places thereof;

¹⁹ But woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days!

²⁷ And it came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the breasts which thou didst suck.
