¹³ Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen, and whom ye have asked for: and, behold, Jehovah hath set a king over you.

²⁴ And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom Jehovah hath chosen, that there is none like him along all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, `Long' live the king.

¹¹ I have given thee a king in mine anger, and have taken him away in my wrath.

⁵ and they said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.

²⁰ And as for thine asses that were lost three days ago, set not they mind on them; for they are found. And for whom is all that is desirable in Israel? Is it not for thee, and for all thy father's house?

¹⁵ And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before Jehovah in Gilgal; and there they offered sacrifices of peace-offerings before Jehovah; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.

²⁹ So they did eat, and were well filled; And he gave them their own desire.

³⁰ They were not estranged from that which they desired, Their food was yet in their mouths,

³¹ When the anger of God went up against them, And slew of the fattest of them, And smote down the young men of Israel.

²¹ And afterward they asked for a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for the space of forty years.
