⁷ For they that sleep sleep in the night: and they that are drunken are drunken in the night.

¹³ suffering wrong as the hire of wrong-doing; `men' that count it pleasure to revel in the day-time, spots and blemishes, revelling in their deceivings while they feast with you;

¹⁵ For these are not drunken, as ye suppose; seeing it is `but' the third hour of the day.

³⁴ Awake to soberness righteously, and sin not; for some have no knowledge of God: I speak `this' to move you to shame.

¹³ Let us walk becomingly, as in the day; not in revelling and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy.

²⁹ Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? Who hath complaining? who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes?

³⁰ They that tarry long at the wine; They that go to seek out mixed wine.

³¹ Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, When it sparkleth in the cup, When it goeth down smoothly:

³² At the last it biteth like a serpent, And stingeth like an adder.

³³ Thine eyes shall behold strange things, And thy heart shall utter perverse things.

³⁴ Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, Or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.

³⁵ They have stricken me, `shalt thou say', and I was not hurt; They have beaten me, and I felt it not: When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

¹⁴ Wherefore `he' saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine upon thee.

³⁴ But take heed to yourselves, lest haply your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come on you suddenly as a snare:

³⁵ for `so' shall it come upon all them that dwell on the face of all the earth.

⁴ They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

⁵ In the same hour came forth the fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

⁴ My heart fluttereth, horror hath affrighted me; the twilight that I desired hath been turned into trembling unto me.

⁵ They prepare the table, they set the watch, they eat, they drink: rise up, ye princes, anoint the shield.

¹⁵ In a dream, in a vision of the night, When deep sleep falleth upon men, In slumberings upon the bed;

¹³ In thoughts from the visions of the night, When deep sleep falleth on men,

³⁶ And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.

³⁷ And it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, that his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.
