² Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he did not that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah his God, like David his father.

¹⁴ And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

² And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that David his father had done.

¹ Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he did not that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, like David his father;

² but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for the Baalim.

³ Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom Jehovah cast out before the children of Israel.

⁴ And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

³ And Jehovah was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto the Baalim,

² And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

³ And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that David his father had done.

³⁴ And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah; he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done.

³ And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

³ And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, yet not like David his father: he did according to all that Joash his father had done.

³ And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not perfect with Jehovah his God, as the heart of David his father.

⁴ For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with Jehovah his God, as was the heart of David his father.

⁵ For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

⁶ And Solomon did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and went not fully after Jehovah, as did David his father.

⁷ Then did Solomon build a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, in the mount that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon.

⁸ And so did he for all his foreign wives, who burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

⁴ And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and mine ordinances;

² And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, and walked in the ways of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

³ For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the Asherim, and the graven images, and the molten images.
