¹¹ And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me; but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee.

⁹ And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the gate of the city: and the kings that were come were by themselves in the field.

¹⁰ Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians.

¹¹ And the rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother; and they put themselves in array against the children of Ammon.

¹² And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me; but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will help thee.

²⁰ in what place soever ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us; our God will fight for us.

³² but I made supplication for thee, that thy faith fail not; and do thou, when once thou hast turned again, establish thy brethren.

¹ Now we that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

² Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

²⁸ and in nothing affrighted by the adversaries: which is for them an evident token of perdition, but of your salvation, and that from God;
