⁸ Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ish-bosheth, and said, Am I a dog's head that belongeth to Judah? This day do I show kindness unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David; and yet thou chargest me this day with a fault concerning this woman.

⁸ And he did obeisance, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?

⁹ Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.

⁴ and he fell upon the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

⁵ And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And he `said', I am Jesus whom thou persecutest:

¹⁸ For John said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.

¹⁹ And Herodias set herself against him, and desired to kill him; and she could not;

²³ Whom hast thou defied and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice and lifted up thine eyes on high? `even' against the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁰ Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: The residue of wrath shalt thou gird upon thee.

¹ Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing?

² The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, `saying',

³ Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us.

⁴ He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision.

¹³ And Hazael said, But what is thy servant, who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, Jehovah hath showed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.

² In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was thou that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and Jehovah said to thee, Thou shalt be shepherd of my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over Israel.

¹⁸ now then do it; for Jehovah hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.

⁹ God do so to Abner, and more also, if, as Jehovah hath sworn to David, I do not even so to him;

¹⁴ After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.

¹⁵ Jehovah therefore be judge, and give sentence between me and thee, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of thy hand.

²⁸ And Samuel said unto him, Jehovah hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbor of thine, that is better than thou.

¹⁸ Thou shalt not bring the hire of a harlot, or the wages of a dog, into the house of Jehovah thy God for any vow: for even both these are an abomination unto Jehovah thy God.
