¹⁰ Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh; for youth and the dawn of life are vanity.

²² after righteousness, faith, love, pace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

¹ Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

¹¹ Seeing that these things are thus all to be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in `all' holy living and godliness,

¹² looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

¹³ But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

¹⁴ Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for these things, give diligence that ye may be found in peace, without spot and blameless in his sight.

¹ Remember also thy Creator in the days of thy youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

¹⁴ I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.

² Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher; vanity of vanities, all is vanity.

¹⁵ Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; `But' the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

⁷ For we are consumed in thine anger, And in thy wrath are we troubled.

⁸ Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

⁹ For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: We bring our years to an end as a sigh.

¹⁰ The days of our years are threescore years and ten, Or even by reason of strength fourscore years; Yet is their pride but labor and sorrow; For it is soon gone, and we fly away.

¹¹ Who knoweth the power of thine anger, And thy wrath according to the fear that is due unto thee?

⁵ Behold, thou hast made my days `as' handbreadths; And my life-time is as nothing before thee: Surely every man at his best estate is altogether vanity. Selah

⁷ Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: According to thy lovingkindness remember thou me, For thy goodness' sake, O Jehovah.

¹¹ His bones are full of his youth, But it shall lie down with him in the dust.

²⁶ For thou writest bitter things against me, And makest me to inherit the iniquities of my youth:
