²⁴ So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did all that he had said.

² And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her away,

³ and her two sons; of whom the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, I have been a sojourner in a foreign land:

⁴ and the name of the other was Eliezer; for `he said', The God of my father was my help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh.

⁵ And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness where he was encamped, at the mount of God:

¹⁹ Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God be with thee: be thou for the people to God-ward, and bring thou the causes unto God:

² And Shecaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have married foreign women of the peoples of the land: yet now there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.

⁵ Then arose Ezra, and made the chiefs of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they would do according to this word. So they sware.

⁵ That the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; And that the man of understanding may attain unto sound counsels:

²¹ And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee: or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
