¹¹ And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown up, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he saw an Egyptian smiting a Hebrew, one of his brethren.

²⁴ By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;

²⁵ choosing rather to share ill treatment with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

²⁶ accounting the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt: for he looked unto the recompense of reward.

¹¹ Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh store-cities, Pithom and Raamses.

²⁸ Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

⁷ And Jehovah said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people that are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

⁹ Let heavier work be laid upon the men, that they may labor therein; and let them not regard lying words.

¹⁴ And the officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task both yesterday and to-day, in making brick as heretofore?

⁶ Is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor: He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised,

²² And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians; and he was mighty in his words and works.

²³ But when he was well-nigh forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.

²⁴ And seeing one `of them' suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, smiting the Egyptian:
