²⁵ And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of the well of water, which Abimelech's servants had violently taken away.

¹⁵ Now all the wells which his father's servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped, and filled with earth.

¹⁶ And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us. For thou art much mightier than we.

¹⁷ And Isaac departed thence, and encamped in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.

¹⁸ And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father. For the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham. And he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

¹⁹ And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.

²⁰ And the herdsmen of Gerar strove with Isaac's herdsmen, saying, The water is ours. And he called the name of the well Esek, because they contended with him.

²¹ And they digged another well, and they strove for that also. And he called the name of it Sitnah.

²² And he removed from thence, and digged another well. And for that they strove not. And he called the name of it Rehoboth. And he said, For now Jehovah hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.

⁷ And there was a strife between the herdsmen of Abram's cattle and the herdsmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelt then in the land.

⁸ And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and they roll the stone from the well's mouth. Then we water the sheep.

¹⁵ Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.

¹⁶ Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.

¹⁷ And the shepherds came and drove them away; but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.

¹⁵ And she said unto him, Give me a blessing; for that thou hast set me in the land of the South, give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.

¹⁰ A rebuke entereth deeper into one that hath understanding Than a hundred stripes into a fool.

⁹ Debate thy cause with thy neighbor `himself', And disclose not the secret of another;

⁵ Better is open rebuke Than love that is hidden.

¹⁵ And if thy brother sin against thee, go, show him his fault between thee and him alone: if he hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
