²⁴ And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

³ In the womb he took his brother by the heel; and in his manhood he had power with God:

⁴ yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him at Beth-el, and there he spake with us,

⁵ even Jehovah, the God of hosts; Jehovah is his memorial `name'.

²⁸ And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for thou hast striven with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

³⁰ And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for, `said he', I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

²⁴ Strive to enter in by the narrow door: for many, I say unto you, shall seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

¹² For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual `hosts' of wickedness in the heavenly `places'.

⁴⁴ And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became as it were great drops of blood falling down upon the ground.

⁴⁷ The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is of heaven.
