¹⁹ wherefore should we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, and that the land be not desolate.

² For there were that said, We, our sons and our daughters, are many: let us get grain, that we may eat and live.

³ Some also there were that said, We are mortgaging our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses: let us get grain, because of the dearth.

⁴ And Satan answered Jehovah, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.

¹¹ All her people sigh, they seek bread; They have given their pleasant things for food to refresh the soul: See, O Jehovah, and behold; for I am become abject.

⁶ We have given the hand to the Egyptians, And to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.

⁹ We get our bread at the peril of our lives, Because of the sword of the wilderness.

²⁶ For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?

⁸ Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ,

⁹ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, `even' that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:
