²⁰ And Noah began to be a husbandman, and planted a vineyard:

¹⁸ thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

¹⁹ in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

²⁴ Doth he that ploweth to sow plow continually? doth he `continually' open and harrow his ground?

²⁵ When he hath levelled the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and put in the wheat in rows, and the barley in the appointed place, and the spelt in the border thereof?

²⁶ For his God doth instruct him aright, `and' doth teach him.

⁶ Look not upon me, because I am swarthy, Because the sun hath scorched me. My mother's sons were incensed against me; They made me keeper of the vineyards; `But' mine own vineyard have I not kept.

⁹ Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the king `himself' is served by the field.

³⁰ I went by the field of the sluggard, And by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

¹¹ He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread; But he that followeth after vain `persons' is void of understanding.

¹¹ The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life; But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

³⁰ Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not use the fruit thereof.

⁶ And what man is there that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not used the fruit thereof? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man use the fruit thereof.

²⁹ and he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us in our work and in the toil of our hands, `which cometh' because of the ground which Jehovah hath cursed.

² And again she bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

²³ therefore Jehovah God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

⁷ What soldier ever serveth at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not the fruit thereof? Or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
