¹ For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

¹⁸ And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High.

¹⁹ And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth:

²⁰ and blessed be God Most High, who hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him a tenth of all.

⁷ and crying out with a loud voice, he saith, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, torment me not.

² In Salem also is his tabernacle, And his dwelling-place in Zion.

²⁰ whither as a forerunner Jesus entered for us, having become a high priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

¹⁷ The same following after Paul and us cried out, saying, These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim unto you the way of salvation.

⁶ Wherewith shall I come before Jehovah, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt-offerings, with calves a year old?

²¹ and he was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the beasts', and his dwelling was with the wild asses; he was fed with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; until he knew that the Most High God ruleth in the kingdom of men, and that he setteth up over it whomsoever he will.

¹⁸ O thou king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty:

² It hath seemed good unto me to show the signs and wonders that the Most High God hath wrought toward me.

² Who hath raised up one from the east, whom he calleth in righteousness to his foot? he giveth nations before him, and maketh him rule over kings; he giveth them as the dust to his sword, as the driven stubble to his bow.

³ He pursueth them, and passeth on safely, even by a way that he had not gone with his feet.

⁵⁶ Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, And kept not his testimonies;

³⁵ And they remembered that God was their rock, And the Most High God their redeemer.

² I will cry unto God Most High, Unto God that performeth `all things' for me.

¹⁴ Wherefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.

¹⁵ And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bare, Ishmael.

¹⁶ And Abram was fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.
