⁵ Jehovah hath broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of the rulers;

³ For the sceptre of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; That the righteous put not forth their hands unto iniquity.

⁴ For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, thou hast broken as in the day of Midian.

⁵ Ho Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, the staff in whose hand is mine indignation!

²⁹ Rejoice not, O Philistia, all of thee, because the rod that smote thee is broken; for out of the serpent's root shall come forth an adder, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

¹⁵ Moab is laid waste, and they are gone up into his cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁶ The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.

¹⁷ All ye that are round about him, bemoan him, and all ye that know his name; say, How is the strong staff broken, the beautiful rod!
