¹³ Therefore shall the word of Jehovah be unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

⁴⁴ And he that falleth on this stone shall be broken to pieces: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust.

¹⁶ as also in all `his' epistles, speaking in them of these things; wherein are some things hard to be understood, which the ignorant and unstedfast wrest, as `they do' also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

⁷ For you therefore that believe is the preciousness: but for such as disbelieve, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner;

⁸ and, A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence; for they stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

¹⁶ to the one a savor from death unto death; to the other a savor from life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

⁹ And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, And a stumblingblock, and a recompense unto them:

¹⁴ And unto them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive:

¹² I wrote for him the ten thousand things of my law; but they are counted as a strange thing.

⁵ Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are `as' the light that goeth forth.

³⁶ And the burden of Jehovah shall ye mention no more: for every man's own word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of Jehovah of hosts our God.

³⁷ Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath Jehovah answered thee? and, What hath Jehovah spoken?

³⁸ But if ye say, The burden of Jehovah; therefore thus saith Jehovah: Because ye say this word, The burden of Jehovah, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of Jehovah;

¹⁴ And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

¹⁵ And many shall stumble thereon, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

⁹ And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

¹⁰ Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they sea with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn again, and be healed.

²² Let their table before them become a snare; And when they are in peace, `let it become' a trap.
