⁶ For we are all become as one that is unclean, and all our righteousnesses are as a polluted garment: and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

⁵ Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: In the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

⁶ In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; In the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

¹ And you `did he make alive,' when ye were dead through your trespasses and sins,

² wherein ye once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, of the spirit that now worketh in the sons of disobedience;

²⁴ Wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me out of the body of this death?

³ Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the angel.

⁵ I had heard of thee by the hearing of the ear; But now mine eye seeth thee:

⁶ Wherefore I abhor `myself', And repent in dust and ashes.

⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

⁵ Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of hosts.

⁶ The voice of one saying, Cry. And one said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field.

⁷ The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, because the breath of Jehovah bloweth upon it; surely the people is grass.

⁸ The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand forever.

¹⁸ For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but to do that which is good `is' not.

⁹ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, `even' that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:

¹⁷ Because thou sayest, I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art the wretched one and miserable and poor and blind and naked:

¹⁸ I counsel thee to buy of me gold refined by fire, that thou mayest become rich; and white garments, that thou mayest clothe thyself, and `that' the shame of thy nakedness be not made manifest; and eyesalve to anoint thine eyes, that thou mayest see.

¹³ And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, These that are arrayed in white robes, who are they, and whence came they?

²⁴ For, All flesh is as grass, And all the glory thereof as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth:

²⁵ But the word of the Lord abideth for ever. And this is the word of good tidings which was preached unto you.

¹⁰ and the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

¹¹ For the sun ariseth with the scorching wind, and withereth the grass: and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his goings.

³ For we also once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

⁴ How then can man be just with God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

⁴ Behold, I am of small account; What shall I answer thee? I lay my hand upon my mouth.

⁴ The wicked are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

⁵ Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me.

¹² Hearken unto me, ye stout-hearted, that are far from righteousness:

¹ Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah; who swear by the name of Jehovah, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and Jehovah hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

¹² I will declare thy righteousness; and as for thy works, they shall not profit thee.

¹³ When thou criest, let them that thou hast gathered deliver thee; but the wind shall take them, a breath shall carry them all away: but he that taketh refuge in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain.

¹¹ At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A hot wind from the bare heights in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to winnow, nor to cleanse;

¹² a full wind from these shall come for me: now will I also utter judgments against them.

¹⁹ The wind hath wrapped her up in its wings; and they shall be put to shame because of their sacrifices.

⁸ And he said, This is Wickedness: and he cast her down into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.

⁹ Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there came forth two women, and the wind was in their wings; now they had wings like the wings of a stork; and they lifted up the ephah between earth and heaven.

¹⁰ Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah?

¹¹ And he said unto me, To build her a house in the land of Shinar: and when it is prepared, she shall be set there in her own place.

¹⁴ What is man, that he should be clean? And he that is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

¹⁵ Behold, he putteth no trust in his holy ones; Yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight:

¹⁶ How much less one that is abominable and corrupt, A man that drinketh iniquity like water!
