⁷ neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any; but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land wherein ye sojourn.

²⁷ And the boys grew. And Esau was a skilful hunter, a man of the field. And Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in tents.

¹² Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.

² Honor thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with promise),

³ that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

⁴² Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are home-born in Israel shall dwell in booths;

⁴³ that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am Jehovah your God.

¹⁴ And they found written in the law, how that Jehovah had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month;

¹⁵ and that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and branches of wild olive, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.

¹⁶ So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the broad place of the water gate, and in the broad place of the gate of Ephraim.

¹⁰ but we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

¹⁸ And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit;

⁹ By faith he became a sojourner in the land of promise, as in a `land' not his own, dwelling in tents, with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

¹⁰ for he looked for the city which hath the foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

¹¹ By faith even Sarah herself received power to conceive seed when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised:

¹² wherefore also there sprang of one, and him as good as dead, `so many' as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand, which is by the sea-shore, innumerable.

¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

¹¹ Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lust, which war against the soul;
