⁷ He stretcheth out the north over empty space, And hangeth the earth upon nothing.

⁸ That alone stretcheth out the heavens, And treadeth upon the waves of the sea;

¹ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

² And the earth was waste and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

² Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment; Who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain;

³ Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters; Who maketh the clouds his chariot; Who walketh upon the wings of the wind;

⁴ Who maketh winds his messengers; Flames of fire his ministers;

⁵ Who laid the foundations of the earth, That it should not be moved for ever.

²² `It is' he that sitteth above the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;

²³ I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, Before the earth was.

²⁴ When there were no depths, I was brought forth, When there were no fountains abounding with water.

²⁵ Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills was I brought forth;

²⁶ While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, Nor the beginning of the dust of the world.

²⁷ When he established the heavens, I was there: When he set a circle upon the face of the deep,

²⁶ Lift up your eyes on high, and see who hath created these, that bringeth out their host by number; he calleth them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and for that he is strong in power, not one is lacking.

⁵ Thus saith God Jehovah, he that created the heavens, and stretched them forth; he that spread abroad the earth and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

² For he hath founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the floods.
