⁹ Drink no wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tent of meeting, that ye die not: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:

³ no brawler, no striker; but gentle, not contentious, no lover of money;

¹⁵ For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

⁷ For the bishop must be blameless, as God's steward; not self-willed, not soon angry, no brawler, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre;

¹⁸ And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit;

²¹ Neither shall any of the priests drink wine, when they enter into the inner court.

⁷ And even these reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink; the priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they stagger with strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

⁸ Deacons in like manner `must be' grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

³ he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink; he shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any juice of grapes, nor eat fresh grapes or dried.

²³ Be no longer a drinker of water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

¹¹ Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the understanding.

⁴ It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; Nor for princes `to say', Where is strong drink?

⁵ Lest they drink, and forget the law, And pervert the justice `due' to any that is afflicted.

¹ Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler; And whosoever erreth thereby is not wise.

²⁰ and the priest shall wave them for a wave-offering before Jehovah; this is holy for the priest, together with the wave-breast and heave-thigh: and after that the Nazirite may drink wine.

⁵ And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls full of wine, and cups; and I said unto them, Drink ye wine.

⁶ But they said, We will drink no wine; for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons, for ever:

¹⁷ It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings, that ye shall eat neither fat nor blood.
