⁷ When a wicked man dieth, `his' expectation shall perish; And the hope of iniquity perisheth.

²⁸ The hope of the righteous `shall be' gladness; But the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

¹³ So are the paths of all that forget God; And the hope of the godless man shall perish:

¹⁴ Whose confidence shall break in sunder, And whose trust is a spider's web.

⁹ The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; My desire shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.

¹⁰ Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: They sank as lead in the mighty waters.

²⁰ But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, And they shall have no way to flee; And their hope shall be the giving up of the ghost.

⁴ His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; In that very day his thoughts perish.

³² The wicked is thrust down in his evil-doing; But the righteous hath a refuge in his death.

⁹ Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou art man, and not God, in the hand of him that woundeth thee.

¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, be merry.

²⁰ But God said unto him, Thou foolish one, this night is thy soul required of thee; and the things which thou hast prepared, whose shall they be?
