²⁵ Heaviness in the heart of a man maketh it stoop; But a good word maketh it glad.

¹³ A glad heart maketh a cheerful countenance; But by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.

⁴ The Lord Jehovah hath given me the tongue of them that are taught, that I may know how to sustain with words him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as they that are taught.

²³ A man hath joy in the answer of his mouth; And a word in due season, how good is it!

²⁴ Pleasant words are `as' a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

²² A cheerful heart is a good medicine; But a broken spirit drieth up the bones.

¹⁸ There is that speaketh rashly like the piercings of a sword; But the tongue of the wise is health.

⁴ For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be made sorry, but that ye might know the love that I have more abundantly unto you.

⁵ But if any hath caused sorrow, he hath caused sorrow, not to me, but in part (that I press not too heavily) to you all.

⁶ Sufficient to such a one is this punishment which was `inflicted' by the many;

⁷ so that contrariwise ye should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest by any means such a one should be swallowed up with his overmuch sorrow.

¹³ And Jehovah answered the angel that talked with me with good words, `even' comfortable words.

⁹ Oil and perfume rejoice the heart; So doth the sweetness of a man's friend `that cometh' of hearty counsel.

¹¹ A word fitly spoken Is `like' apples of gold in network of silver.

¹⁴ The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; But a broken spirit who can bear?

¹⁵ All the days of the afflicted are evil; But he that is of a cheerful heart `hath' a continual feast.

¹⁰ The heart knoweth its own bitterness; And a stranger doth not intermeddle with its joy.

¹¹ Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him, `Who is' the help of my countenance, and my God.

⁶ I am pained and bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.

³³ And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly amazed, and sore troubled.

³⁴ And he saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death: abide ye here, and watch.

¹ And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, when wine was before him, that I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been `beforetime' sad in his presence.

² And the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid.
