⁵ The thoughts of the righteous are just; `But' the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

² They speak falsehood every one with his neighbor: With flattering lip, and with a double heart, do they speak.

³ Jehovah will cut off all flattering lips, The tongue that speaketh great things;

⁵ Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.

⁴ and they took counsel together that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him.

¹⁶ Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the Wise-men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the male children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had exactly learned of the Wise-men.

³ And when Herod the king heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

⁴ And gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ should be born.

⁵ And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written through the prophet,

⁶ And thou Bethlehem, land of Judah, Art in no wise least among the princes of Judah: For out of thee shall come forth a governor, Who shall be shepherd of my people Israel.

⁷ Then Herod privily called the Wise-men, and learned of them exactly what time the star appeared.

⁸ And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search out exactly concerning the young child; and when ye have found `him,' bring me word, that I also may come and worship him.

¹⁴ O Jerusalem, wash thy heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thine evil thoughts lodge within thee?

⁷ let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto Jehovah, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

⁹ The thought of foolishness is sin; And the scoffer is an abomination to men.

²³ The desire of the righteous is only good; `But' the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

¹ Deliver me, O Jehovah, from the evil man; Preserve me from the violent man:

² Who devise mischiefs in their heart; Continually do they gather themselves together for war.

³ They have sharpened their tongue like a serpent; Adders' poison is under their lips. Selah

²³ Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts;

¹⁵ I will meditate on thy precepts, And have respect unto thy ways.

⁶ And if he come to see `me', he speaketh falsehood; His heart gathereth iniquity to itself: When he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

⁷ All that hate me whisper together against me; Against me do they devise my hurt.

² For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.

³ The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: He hath ceased to be wise `and' to do good.

⁴ He deviseth iniquity upon his bed; He setteth himself in a way that is not good; He abhorreth not evil.

² but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
