²⁸ The heart of the righteous studieth to answer; But the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

¹⁵ but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: `being' ready always to give answer to every man that asketh you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear:

² The tongue of the wise uttereth knowledge aright; But the mouth of fools poureth out folly.

¹⁸ For, uttering great swelling `words' of vanity, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by lasciviousness, those who are just escaping from them that live in error;

⁶ And the tongue is a fire: the world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the wheel of nature, and is set on fire by hell.

⁷ For every kind of beasts and birds, of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind.

⁸ But the tongue can no man tame; `it is' a restless evil, `it is' full of deadly poison.

¹⁰ For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision,

¹¹ whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

³⁴ Ye offspring of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

¹² The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.

¹³ The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness; and the end of his talk is mischievous madness.

¹⁴ A fool also multiplieth words: `yet' man knoweth not what shall be; and that which shall be after him, who can tell him?

⁶ Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that is was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thy hands?

² Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thy heart be hasty to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.

²⁰ Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? There is more hope of a fool than of him.

¹¹ A fool uttereth all his anger; But a wise man keepeth it back and stilleth it.

²³ The heart of the wise instructeth his mouth, And addeth learning to his lips.

¹⁶ Every prudent man worketh with knowledge; But a fool flaunteth `his' folly.

¹⁹ In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; But he that refraineth his lips doeth wisely.

²³ Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.

²⁴ And the king said, Fetch me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

²⁵ And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

²⁶ Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, It shall be neither mine nor thine; divide it.

²⁷ Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.

²⁸ And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do justice.
