³⁰ Stripes that wound cleanse away evil; And strokes `reach' the innermost parts.

¹⁵ Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; `But' the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

²⁵ Smite a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; And reprove one that hath understanding, `and' he will understand knowledge.

¹⁰ For they indeed for a few days chastened `us' as seemed good to them; but he for `our' profit, that `we' may be partakers of his holiness.

⁹ Therefore by this shall the iniquity of Jacob be forgiven, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, `so that' the Asherim and the sun-images shall rise no more.

⁵ But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
