¹² Apply thy heart unto instruction, And thine ears to the words of knowledge.

² So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding;

³ Yea, if thou cry after discernment, And lift up thy voice for understanding;

⁴ If thou seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures:

⁵ Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God.

⁶ For Jehovah giveth wisdom; Out of his mouth `cometh' knowledge and understanding:

¹ My son, attend unto my wisdom; Incline thine ear to my understanding:

² That thou mayest preserve discretion, And that thy lips may keep knowledge.

¹⁷ Incline thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, And apply thy heart unto my knowledge.

¹⁹ Hear thou, my son, and be wise, And guide thy heart in the way.

³¹ And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but do them not; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their gain.

⁵² And he said unto them, Therefore every scribe who hath been made a disciple to the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

²¹ Wherefore putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

²² But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves.

²³ For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror:

²⁴ for he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

²⁵ But he that looketh into the perfect law, the `law' of liberty, and `so' continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing.
