³ Be not desirous of his dainties; Seeing they are deceitful food.

⁶ Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, Neither desire thou his dainties:

⁴ Incline not my heart to any evil thing, To practise deeds of wickedness With men that work iniquity: And let me not eat of their dainties.

⁸ But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king's dainties, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

³⁴ But take heed to yourselves, lest haply your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come on you suddenly as a snare:

²² that ye put away, as concerning your former manner of life, the old man, that waxeth corrupt after the lusts of deceit;
